Our Hero

This story is actually about two of my favorite pets one who just recently passed. His name was Derby and we were besties, that is slang for best friends, he was so easy to be around, he was a handsome guy, that's for sure, well mannered and polite and always there with an over the top greeting, I will never forget the disappointment in his eyes when I would go to his house and not take him with me when I left.  He brought much joy into my life and to everyone's lives who knew him.

The "HIT" - "VISIT" Myth, Unravelling Website Analytics

Understanding how *metrics are read on a website is as important as the numbers themselves. There is a big difference between "Hits" and "Page Views" as there is a difference between "Page Views" and "Visitors", there is also a difference between "Visitors" and "Unique Visitors".

The beauty of promoting on the web is that you are able to measure everything. I find this immensely valuable because I'm able to focus my marketing campaigns on products and services that really work for me and for my advertisers.  I figure I must be doing something right because we have experienced awesome success in our first year and we continue to grow our viewership quite dramatically (January and February of this month are up 51.69% over last January and February  and this past week was our biggest week ever).

Cross Country Skiing

Whenever I reminisce over a great  outdoor experience when the weather is what we refer to as inclement, I can't help but smile.  You know one of those days where everything is a little blah and undefined.  We had decided this past weekend to go cross country skiing no matter what the weather.   I seriously needed the exercise and wanted to push my physical window and cross country skiing is an excellent way to do that, low impact and an all over body workout.  Well!  If it had been a howling South Easter I might have declined, but as it turned out it was just another gray day.  Gray down near the water anyway, although the weather called for partly sunny skies we sure didn't see much of it. The temperatures were mild, even for the island and we were at least hoping for a quick peek at the sun, our best bet for that eventuality was to head to the hills.

We left for Mt Washington around 11:00 am, I knew I was only going to be able to do a half day because cross country skiing can be a demanding sport and this was my first time trying after an absence of many years, so I was planning on taking it nice and easy.

20 tips to Enhance your Internet Profile

Consider educating yourself on where and when is the best time to spend your dollars and be discerning with the venue.  Take the time to research your audience, research your competition and set your goals.  Before you embark on the journey.

Design your campaign specifically for customers that are looking for your product or a parallel product, seek out venues where your competition may be represented.  This is a primary reason why directories have been such a success, a local market that is categorized and representative of all the businesses in a specific industry becomes a hub for searches and GoCampbellRiver.com is your internet directory for Campbell River.

On the flip side, there are many ways to leverage the Internet and gain free or almost free advertising for your business, service or product, these methods may require an investment of time and a bit of a learning curb, but the results can truly make your business.

The good news is that much of it you can do yourself.
