Children’s Playgrounds

Introduction to Children’s Playgrounds

Looking for something to keep the little ones busy?  Campbell River lays claim to over two dozen exceptional children's playgrounds, from Municipal Parks such as Willow Point Park, Centennial Park and Dick Murphy Park to School District 72 playgrounds like Ripple Rock School to Provincial Parks such as Elk Falls Provincial Park .  There is something to please every child no matter what the age.

Try this game; pack a snack, water and juice and make a visit to as many playgrounds in the district as you can in one day; or a weekend, you can run through as many playgrounds as time and energy allow.  You can take our list of playgrounds with you and the kids can rate the playgrounds from one to five, with five representing the best.  Post the ratings on the fridge and guaranteed: the kids will want to continue working on the project the next opportunity they have.

It is suggested to take into consideration; how much effort it was to get to the playground, what the favorite piece of equipment is, the variety of equipment the playground offers, the condition of the playground itself, what other activities that were available at each location and of course the weather and how that affects our overall experience.  Each of these conditions can be listed and rated. This information can then be journalized with pictures if you like and kept on record to be compared to the next trip out to new parks.

For our group of kids this game turned out to be one of the best all round activities we could muster for a weekend without commitments, even on days when the weather was not that great.  To this day, even though my daughter is no longer a child and her calendar is jammed full of commitment, we still have our favorite playgrounds and we find ourselves reminiscing over the quality and display of new facilities when we discover them.

We would like to pass onto you the list of playgrounds in the City of Campbell River and extend a word of thanks to the Municipality of Campbell River, School District 72, The Rotary Club, BC Parks, the Campbell River Christian School and the Lions Club for building and maintaining these facilities for the ongoing health and entertainment of our children.
