Campbell River Municipal Parks
Adams Park
Location: At the foot of Adam’s Road in Willow Point, 2200 South Island Highway.
Amenities: This is a small neighbourhood park with gardens, benches, picnic tables and beach access.
Applegate Road Neighbourhood Park
Location: Southern Willow Point, from the Island Highway, then turn right on Erickson Road away from the ocean, heading west. Travel approximately 1 km turn right on Applegate Road.
Amenities: Playground, picnic tables and trails. The trails are across Erickson Road near Nature Park Drive.
Baikie Island Municipal Reserve
Location: Directly North of the Campbell River Bridge on Highway 19. Access is through Raven Park, just follow the estuary channels north-east.
Amenities: Paved walkways, trails.
The Baikie Island Reserve is designated as being the largest, and one of the most important aspects for any number of aquatic and avian species that makes their home in the Campbell River estuary. Previously owned by Raven Industries and heavily industrialized for many years, this bio-diverse habitat has been purchased by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and turned over to the City of Campbell River to be restored and managed as a nature reserve and public park.
Many community groups have pitched in to bring the estuary and Baikie Island back into a natural state, with replanting and rejuvenation being completed on an ongoing basis. The site today is excellent for bird watching and in the late fall salmon viewing. The channels along this trail are favourite spawning grounds for chum salmon.
Bowen Road Neighbourhood Park
Location: Turn west on South Alder in Willow Point, about 2 blocks south of Southgate school.
Amenities: Bowen Park is essentially just a grassy field with an excellent ocean view.
Cambridge Drive Neighbourhood Park
Location: Willow Point. Head south on Galerno Road, just a few blocks past the Hilchey Road Intersection turn right.
Amenities: An open space with picnic tables and an ocean view.
Campbellton Park
Location: 15th Avenue Campbellton
Amenities: Playground, Picnic tables and benches.
Centennial Park
Location: Located at Birch Street and 230-4th Avenue
Amenities: Home to the communities’ outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, picnic tables and a large playground, open space with ocean view and large second growth fir trees. Parks and Recreation run a summer program here also.
Charstate Road Neighbourhood Park
Location: Heading south on Dogwood, just past the Merecroft Village Shopping Center turn right on Cortez Road, then an immediate right again on Charstate.
Amenities: Playground, large field, mountain views.
Coronation Road Neighbourhood Park
Location: South Alder, one block past the 2nd avenue four way stop, on your right.
Amenities: Second growth timber, benches, picnic tables.
Dick Murphy Park at Tyee Spit
Location: Directly behind the Discovery Harbour Plaza, encompasses several acres of the mouth of the Campbell River Estuary.
Amenities: Boat Ramp, playground, cobbled walkways, beach access, Tyee Clubhouse, excellent views on all sides, picnic tables, washrooms, beach access.
One of Campbell River’s newest and most bucolic parks, surrounded by water with the confluence of the Campbell River and Discovery Passage as its greatest assets, nicely maintained with cobbled walkways and replanted native flora, this areas views are constantly changing, even in bad weather this park is a site to enjoy. It also boasts excellent bird viewing and picture taking possibilities.
Ellis Road Neighbourhood Park
Location: Along the Rotary Sea Walk in Downtown Willow Point.
Amenities: Beach access, paved walkways, beach access.
Frank James Park
Location: 2084 South Island Highway, Willow Point
Amenities: Home to the “Transformations on the Shore” carvings, this chainsaw carving contest takes place here on the July long weekend; however Frank James Park is host to the most concentrated number and variety of carvings all year round. A part of the Rotary Sea Walk, there are picnic tables and benches for public use easy access to the beach, and seasonal washrooms, a great point to Cruise ship spot.
Gazelle Road Neighbourhood Park
Location: Heading west on Rockland Road, from Alder (away from the ocean), turn right on Springbok (or what looks like springbok) go straight and you will find yourself on Gazelle. The park is about one block on your right.
Amenities: Playground, paved walkways, we have found this a great place to sleigh-ride for the little ones in the winter.
Harrogate Road Neighbourhood Park
Location: Willow Point, as you are heading south on Highway 19A, turn right on Erickson Rd, travel one block then another right on Harrogate Rd.
Amenities: Open space with picnic tables.
Hidden Harbour Park
Location: South Island Highway, at the bottom of the hill as you come out of downtown Campbell River, beside the Hidden Harbour condominium complex.
Amenities: Beach access, paved walks ways. This park is situated in the more northerly aspects of the Rotary Sea Walk. The south east aspect of this park makes it a great place to sit on the beach when a southeaster is blowing, that is of course if you can stand in the wind, great views of the lighthouse at Cape Mudge.
Hilchey Road Nieghbourhood Park
Location: Turn right as you travel south on highway 19A at Hilchey Road. The corner of Hilchey Rd and Dalton Road in Willow Point
Amenities: Playground, picnic tables.
Jaycee Park
Location: Travel south on Highway 19A, just past downtown Willow Point on the water side.
Amenities: Beach access, picnic tables and benches.
Larwood Road Park
Location: Willow Point south, on the Island Highway directly south of the Village shopping center, at the end of Larwood Road.
Amenities: Beach access, paved walkways, picnic tables.
Lililana Neighbourhood Park
Location: At the intersections of Upland Drive, Francis Road and Marina Blvd, heading south on South Alder, turn right on Francis Road, you can’t miss it.
Amenities: Playground, benches, picnic tables and benches.
McCallum Park
Location: On the Rrotary Sea walk, South Island Highway towards Willow Point, across the street from the Mohawk gas station.
Amenities: Parking, boat ramp, beach access.
McIvor Lake Park
Location: Heading east (toward Gold River) on highway 28, approximately 4 kilometres past General Hill on your right, a well marked sign indicating the municipal park. Turn right and please drive slowly, there are several well marked parking lots to your left.
Amenities: Seasonal washrooms, boat ramp, sandy beaches, swimming, waterskiing, fishing, trails.
Nunn’s Creek Park
Location: In Campbellton, on 16th Avenue, directly behind the Campbell River Common.
Amenities: This is the site of the annual Campbell River logger’s sports, the miner’s competition and the Salmon Festival every summer. It is also home to the Campbell River Tyee’s “AA” midget baseball team, skateboard Park, playground, hiking trails, baseball diamond, tennis court and seasonal washrooms available.
Raven Park
Location: Directly adjacent to the Campbell River, just south of the north bound bridge on highway 19 and highway 19A the best parking spot is on the west side of the Brick, you will see the carved Raven on a pole just beside the river.
Amenities: Hiking trails, benches. Bird watching and salmon viewing areas, these trails are so well groomed as to be accessible to wheelchairs.
Robert Ostler Park
Location: 945 Island Highway, in the downtown core.
Amenities: Here you will find picnic tables, an authentic First Nations Long House with a war canoe, a playground, expansive lawns, gardens, benches overlooking inside passage with paved walkways and seasonal washrooms. This is a favourite location for kite flying and is the location of July 1st fireworks and Ocean Days and other non-seasonal festivals and celebrations.
Robron Park
Location: Access could be from Merecroft Road, from Robron Road or from South Birch, all three accesses have parking facilities.
Amenities: Jogging trails, baseball diamond, soccer field, seasonal washrooms.
Rotary Beach Park
Location: Approximately 2 kilometres south of downtown, 501 - 621 South Island Highway
Amenities: This quaint little stop along the Rotary Sea Walk is home to many carvings, picnic tables, benches and seasonal washrooms; it is a great place for a family picnic. Here you will find the Sally Wellman memorial garden, with tributes to many of our dearly departed friends and neighbours.
Ruby Road Neighbourhood Park
Location: Heading south from 2nd Avenue on South Alder, travel 2 km then turn left on Ocean View Road just before you see the Max store on your right, Ruby Road is your first left hand turn off Ocean View.
Amenities: Playground, open field, benches, picnic table.
Sequoia Park
Location: 471 to 491 South Island Highway, across from the museum.
Amenities: The bright orange Torii Gate prominently displayed at Sequoia Part was a gift from our sister city of Ishikari, Japan. It is the first authentic Torii gate on Canadian soil, beach access, picnic tables and benches, a stop on the Rotary Sea Walk.
Washington Drive Neighbourhood Park
Location: South of Willow Point, just north of the Ocean Grove gas station, turn right on Washington Drive.
Amenities: Playground
Willow Point Park - SportsPlex
Location: Two blocks south of the Rockland Road intersection on South Alder, on your right.
Amenities: Extensive children’s playground, 2 ball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, squash courts, picnic tables, washrooms, horseshoe pitch, disc golf, trails, soccer field, basket ball court, track, ball hockey court, bocce, sand volleyball, Skateboard Park, a popular sleigh Riding Mecca in the winter.
